How Kelsey Booked 3 Projects through The Co-Pro Club
Kelsey Brasher is a brand + web designer who joined The Co-Promotion Club in May of 2025.
She has a kind, open-hearted approach and many years of experience in her field.
While it usually takes members 6-12 months to build relationships here that produce booked work, Kelsey booked three significant projects within her first few months with us.
Here’s how it happened.
Project 1
Soon after Kelsey joined us, C, another member, shared in Slack that she was struggling with some DIY design challenges. Kelsey kindly volunteered to chat with her and helped C work through her challenges.
C promptly hired Kelsey to design her brand.
Project 2
C was also in the process of publishing a book. She got her new book cover design draft and hated it - so she reached out to hire Kelsey again.
Kelsey designed a book cover that C loved.
Project 3
Madeline, a fractional marketing director, joined The Co-Pro Club in June.
Kelsey and Madeline met and had a coffee chat. They hit it off, kept in touch in our Slack group, and got to know each other better in our small, monthly groups.
Later in the summer, Madeline shared an RFP in our Slack group on behalf of a large client of hers.
Kelsey submitted a proposal and let Madeline know. Madeline put in a good word for Kelsey with her client, since they had been building trust and getting to know each other.
That client hired Kelsey, and it turned out to be the largest project Kelsey has booked to date.
What’s behind Kelsey’s success?
Generosity
When we build relationships from a place of generosity, we are signaling to others that we're not just in it for ourselves. That builds trust.
And while a single act of generosity may not often result in booked work, showing up generously is powerful. It says "I'm here to support you with no strings attached."
Also? It feels really good to give generously. Oxytocin, baby!!
While I would discourage asking someone for help in their area of expertise (we aren't here to ask anyone to do unpaid labor), Kelsey's willingness to do just that paid off in ways she could not have foreseen.
Consistency
My hot take: consistency is an overlooked superpower.
We live in a sound-bite, scroll-happy, attention-span-of-a-goldfish era. It's easy to show up - but incredibly hard to show up consistently. When you do, you're noticed and remembered.
I've found that one of the biggest challenges in building referral partnerships is showing up consistently. But doing so helps us stay in mind. It deepens relationships. It allows us to set the foundation and then build on it in slow, sustainable ways.
Consistency pays off. Ask Kelsey.
